Advice:

  1. What verb often goes before ‘it’ and an adjective?
  2. Phrasal verb needed.
  3. Be careful with the form of the second verb.
  4. Passive verb form needed.
  5. Remember that ‘point’ is a noun here.
  6. Use the negative form of a modal verb.

Tip!

If you can’t complete the whole answer, write what you can – you may get one mark.

Check that your spelling is correct. You will lose marks for spelling mistakes.

1. Thomas spoke so quickly I had difficult understanding him.

Action Plan:

For each question, study both sentences and the key word in CAPITALS. What differences are there between the two sentences?

Begin by thinking about what the question is testing (e.g. conditionals or phrasal verbs).

Check whether you need to make any other changes (e.g. a noun to an adjective, an affirmative to a negative).

Check that the completed sentence makes sense
